Primary care and specialist physicians must join a PGIP participating Physician Organization to participate in PGIP. Currently, there are more than 40 POs throughout the state in PGIP. Access the current list of PGIP Physician Organizations (PDF).

 

A physician can be a member of only one PO for the purposes of PGIP. In order to be eligible to participate in PGIP, a physician must:
 

• Participate in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan PPO/TRUST or Traditional lines of business

• Be in good standing with the network

• Be a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, doctor of chiropractic, or doctor of podiatric medicine. This includes all physician specialties, except anesthesiology, though some anesthesiologists will be eligible to participate in the program based on the services provided and billed. Licensed psychologists are also eligible to participate in the program.

Join a Physician Organization

Each PGIP participating PO has its own criteria for membership. Physicians should contact an organization directly to discuss its specific criteria. You can contact your provider consultant for a list of PGIP participating POs in your area or access the entire list of PGIP participating POs (PDF).

Following are some general requirements that physicians must meet in order to join a PGIP participating PO. Physicians must:
 

• Be committed to working on improving health care and outcomes for attributed patients.

• Agree to implement process changes using an all-payer approach, meaning that care provided to patients is the same regardless of payer.
